Swansea sits at the south end of Lexington County, down where US-321 runs through farm country toward the Orangeburg County line. It is one of the larger of the small towns out here, with a working downtown, the schools of Lexington County School District Four, and a community that has kept its rural, agricultural character even as the rest of the county has filled in to the north.
